Fellow Karters:

            For your information re: Nationals

In order to compete in the nationals on August 21st / 22nd you will need a National License. In order to obtain a national license you must first have a regional license which is available from Emile (Farmer) Leblanc. His email is (anjo@nbnet.nb.ca) I do not have his telephone with me as I write this email, but if you need help, give me a call. Also I understand that the accommodations at Cap Tremblant are filling up fast. Also it is a good idea to pre register prior to the event to save a lot of work when you get there. Also some classes have limited entries and it would be very upsetting to drive all that way and find out the class is full. All the forms are available at (www.asncanada.com).

Too All Members:

Race # 5 under the lights will take place this Saturday night July 17th with practice beginning at 5:00 PM. Same format will be in place as last night race. Reminder to those that are not members of CKRA that if you are running for points championships that you will have to join our club after this race in order to be eligible for our end of year overall points. Wayne Schnare from ARMS will be Race Director and official starter for Saturday night’s race as Ross will be away this weekend. See you all Saturday night.

Fellow karters:

Race # 3 will be this Sunday June 13th with registration beginning at 8:30am and practice beginning at 9:30am sharp. Our race sponsor for this weekend will be A.E. MacKay Builders of Saint John.

After much discussion regarding the Rotax Senior race of last Sunday the executive have made a unanimous decision that the points for the Rotax senior class will be voided for Race # 2 and the standings will stay the same as Race # 1. Also for the Rotax Classes, after much discussion the executive have decided that as a club we will follow the Rotax Max Challenge rules. For older Rotax karts that show up to race, the only items that will have to be changed are the Air Box, possibly Carburetor internal floats & jets so they comply to the 2010 rule change and a rear bumper. I have been advised that older steel bumpers on which the chassis is not homolgonized, are only required to have steel guards to cover approx. half the rear wheel and that these guards are relatively inexpensive. I also have been advised that plastic bumpers for the older karts are readily available for a cost under $150.00. Also Mojo Slicks and Rain tires are the only tires allowed in the Rotax Max Challenge Class.  Race # 2 will count for the Rotax qualifier to attend the Canadian National Championships in Mont Tremblant in August. Also I noticed yesterday that information is starting to appear on the (www.asncanada.com) website concerning the 2010 Nationals. The form for number request is up and running. I hope this clarifies everything and if anyone has questions, please feel free to contact me anytime. We will do a short pre-tech on Sunday for the Rotax class so hopefully these minor technical issues don’t arise in the future.

See you Sunday,

Rick

Attention Karters:

CKRA race # 2 will be held this Sunday June 6th at East Coast Karting in Dieppe. See schedule below.

There is one item concerning Rotax tires that I would like to bring to all Rotax Class participants. Last year we adopted a sub-regulation that required the Rotax class to run used tires only, this year because of our first 5 races being qualifiers for the Canadian Nationals, the executive have  decided to delete that regulation and replace with the following:  “Rotax participants can use NEW MOJO tires if they wish for qualification”. The other change to this will be that the “Tires that you qualify on will be the tires you race with for the day and all Rotax MOJO tires will be paint sealed after qualification”.  This new sub-regulation will also apply to all 4-cycle classes, “Tires used for heat #1 will be used for the remainder of the race day”.  If a tire is damaged during the day, then the wheel and tire must be taken to the technical director for inspection and he or she will determine if a replacement tire is necessary.

Another Rotax rule that I would like to make aware that most definitely will be a tech item at some point this year is the rule change for 2010 concerning Carborator floats and jets. I would encourage all Rotax participants and mechanics to read the new Rotax Max Challenge 2010 rules for this important carborator change as well as other changes such as the New Air box for all Rotax SR, JR engines.  For those not aware, the main item concerns carborators. If  using a 8.5 carborator insert, the only allowed combination is 3.6 gram floats with 60 idle jet and 60 idle jet insert. If using 12.5 carb insert, then you can only use 5.2 gram floats and 30 idle jet and 30 idle jet insert. I don’t want to bore everyone with regulations, however as I know some of us are going to the Nationals this summer, it is best made aware of rule changes before surprises occur.
